Duration of Stay

This is a temporary visa that permits you to stay in Australia for up to 5 years, depending on the length of your course. Primary school children (years 1-4) are generally granted a student visa for a maximum of 3 years.

Extending Your Stay

If you wish to continue studying, you will need to apply for a new Student visa. In some cases, you may be eligible for other visas, such as:

Visitor visa (subclass 600): If your Student visa expires before graduation

Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485): For those who completed specific qualifications in Australia within the last six months

Skilled Recognition Graduate visa (subclass 476): For recent engineering graduates from recognized institutions

Explore your visa options if you need to stay longer for different reasons.

Cost

The visa fee starts at AUD $1600 for the main applicant, with additional charges for family members. Other potential costs include health checks, police certificates, and biometrics. Use the Visa Pricing Estimator for a more detailed cost analysis.

Application Details

You can apply for the Subclass 500 visa from inside or outside Australia. Ensure you provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for each course you plan to undertake. For packaged courses, gaps between courses should be less than two months unless aligning with the academic year.

Obligations

You and your family must adhere to all visa conditions and Australian laws during your stay.

Travel Flexibility

With the Subclass 500 visa, you can travel in and out of Australia as often as you like while your visa is valid. However, time spent outside Australia does not extend the visa.

Digital Visa Label

Your visa will be digitally linked to your passport, so no physical label is required.
